MASAI CHAIR

Material - wood.
Dimensions - 750x450x450.

The piece draws on the aesthetics of Russian Art Nouveau and the architectural language of Ivan Fomin, where rigorous geometry is articulated through a pronounced material presence.

It references the vernacular culture of pre-revolutionary Russia - its economy of form, structural clarity, and the tactile immediacy of natural materials. These qualities are reinterpreted within a contemporary object, where tradition is not replicated but recontextualised.

The trapezoidal legs, crafted from solid oak or elm, establish a grounded, almost architectural silhouette. Their surface, treated with oil, reveals the depth and grain of the wood, emphasizing its organic origin.

This structural rigidity is counterbalanced by the softened contour of the seat and backrest. Upholstered in textile, they introduce a sense of tactility and quiet comfort, creating a dialogue between weight and lightness, austerity and softness.
